Content filtering solutions provider Optenet (www.optenet.com) announced on Monday it is now offering HostSecure, a new solution that can automatically analyze, detect and report inappropriate user-generated material posted on organizations' websites.
HostSecure is designed to protect web hosting and Internet service providers from unknowingly exposing website visitors to inappropriate content by dynamically categorizing and removing any content deemed inappropriate.
The past few years has seen a significant rise in the number of user-generated social networking sites, blogs and community websites, bringing along with it a large amount of unfiltered content that includes objectionable text, photos and videos.
More recently, four Google executives face defamation charges in connection to a user posting a Google video that depicted a disabled teen being harassed by peers.
If convicted, the men could serve up to a maximum of 36 months, in the first case of a privacy executive being held accountable for his company's actions.
"Service and hosting providers know that it only takes one bad incident to cause irreparable damage to their reputation," says Joel Silberman, Optenet's vice president of North America. "By enabling the detection and blocking of objectionable content, HostSecure addresses this escalating issue and minimizes the risk faced by these companies. With HostSecure, organizations can rest-assured and operate with confidence in knowing their sites will remain safe and reputable online destinations."
HostSecure is offered as a key offering within Optenet's portfolio of security solutions for service providers and enterprises.
The detection system continually monitors and manages the content of the websites that the service provider hosts and eliminates any objectionable material.
The solution is backed by multiple proprietary intelligent content filtering techniques and address analysis, in conjunction with databases of millions of urls.
HostSecure also issues reports in real-time, giving the administrator a detailed map of all content uploaded to the web by its subscribers.
Optenet provides high-performance content filtering solutions to service providers and large enterprises worldwide with 75 million end users worldwide.
